Consular Services in Switzerland and Liechtenstein
The British Embassy in Berne provides full consular, nationality and notarial services for the whole of Switzeland with the exception of the cantons of Geneva , Vaud, Valais and Fribourg.
Persons requiring these services in those cantons should contact the British Consulate General in Geneva.

Visas and passports are issued at the British Consulate General in Geneva only. The British Embassy in Berne and the Honorary Consulates provide an emergency passport service.

Switzerland is NOT a member of the European Union but has some reciprocal arrangements with the United Kingdom on medical and work matters since the bi-lateral agreement with the European Union which came into force on 1st June 2002. Please ensure that you have sufficient medical and accident insurance, including mountain sports if necessary before travelling. You should also ensure that you have sufficient funds for your journey, bearing in mind that under Swiss laws visitors are not allowed to work.
