The pages in this channel of the Embassy website provide information and advice for British nationals who are resident in or visiting Switzerland. It covers the emergency help and routine consular services provided by the Embassy’s Consular Section in Berne and the British Consulate-General in Geneva.
You will be able to find out what to do if you are a victim of crime, if you need a lawyer or medical assistance from a doctor or in a hospital. You will also find information on the following routine services or issues:

- legalise a document
- registering your contact details with us if you wish to do so

If you need our help in an emergency and are outside of Berne or Geneva it may be possible for one of our network of Honorary Consuls in Basel, Lugano, Montreux/ Vevey, Valais (Mollens) and Zurich to help you but these offices are only open part-time and any enquiries should first be channelled via the British Embassy in Berne or the Consulate General in Geneva.
